This post contains a massive announcement: Our current Main Map will be reset anew this August.
We know there are several questions that you may have about this process, and we hope that this post will answer some of the more common questions, as well as explain the entire process of a map reset in general.
What is a map reset?
A map reset is a process that is conducted every few years for the health of the server. As maps age, they become increasingly laggy and difficult to use due to how Minecraft stores data. As a result, the map has to be reset to a clean slate in order to continue.
During a map reset, everything on the main map and explore, including inventories, is removed and reset to start everyone off on a clean slate once again.
We are currently on the 4th iteration of the main map, which at roughly 5 years old is by far the oldest map Nerdcrafteria has ever hosted. It is definitely showing its age, and while staff has worked hard to keep it going as long as possible, it’s become clear it’s time for something new.
Will there be an upgrade?
We’re hoping to, but while we will do our best in looking into whether or not we can upgrade the Minecraft version during the map reset, everything is dependent on the plugins we use and whether they have support for the newer versions.
What about Beanburg?
We are planning to incorporate Beanburg into the new map, so that you can still live out your big city living dreams after the transition! We will have more details soon!
I have more questions!
The staff will be hosting a server Town Hall on March 1, 6:30pm Eastern to discuss everything related to the map reset. This will include details surrounding the winddown of the current map and transition to the next map, some teasers for new things to come, and also provide you with a space to ask your questions about anything!
We ask that any questions pertaining to map reset are directed to this form here. We will answer all questions received through the form during our Town Hall, which will also be recorded for your convenience in case you are unable to make it.

I represent the (unofficial) Cartography Guild on the server. The guild has questions about possibly migrating map data we have stored in the Guildhouse from the Explore Server, as well as archiving the Main World map.

Hi Jak!
Thank you to you and the Cartography Guild – we love having y’all! Please make sure to submit your questions to the form above.
As a friendly reminder, software/mods that allow you to download a map or builds are NOT permitted. That said, a copy of the main map will be made available for all to enjoy! 😀
